After the move from Lonato, where the first WSK Super Masters race was held, four days of testing followed at the Franciacorta Karting Track in various weather conditions.
WSK rules prevent testing during the race week, so almost all the drivers tested at Franciacorta Karting Track and Max was able to compare times.
The mechanics did an excellent job in testing and Max’s times were close to the fastest drivers.
The official practice sessions started on Wednesday of the race week and the competition in the OK category in which Max starts has expanded to 72 drivers
Max was not completely lost amongst this world class field and the mood in the team was excellent as always.
Friday started with the weather turning and the important timed practice by which the heats would be run throughout the race weekend.
With timed practice being Max’s weakest point at the moment and something he’s been working hard on, he had to settle for 22nd in his group and a 0.624 second loss to the fastest man, which secured him a starting position in row 17.
On Friday afternoon the first heat A+B eliminator took place. Max started in group (A) and finished 27th after a collision that affected many riders.
Saturday started as usual with a morning warm-up and then the starting numbers were divided into even and odd numbered groups. Max, whose starting number was 225, was in the odd group. Everything worked without any problems and Max was ready for the next eliminator heat A+B. After a great battle, he ended up 27th out of 36 starters with a five second penalty for a dropped front bumper that he took off while battling forward through the starting field.
In the afternoon Max had another Eliminator heat, namely A+C. After a duel, he got into a collision with another kart in turn three after the start and was wedged out. Despite having to squash his kart, he was able to finish in 31st place, although with a damaged rear axle and right side bumper.
Max said the racing world is a big school and admitted it is important to set the best time in timed practice. With a little luck, the whole race can be easier and he doesn’t have to tune in positions before the race.
Due to the small number of starters the final heat was not in sight, but Max was able to take part in the pre-final heat in which he had a great race. He crossed the finish line in a nice 24th place, beating 11 competitors during the race.
Max summed up that racing is a constant battle and gaining experience. He is looking forward to further testing at the Cremona circuit and to the next WSK Super Master Series race at the Sarno circuit near Naples.
Thanks to all the partners, without whom the participation would not have been possible, and of course to the mechanics, including the Macháč Motors family, because once again the engines ran like clockwork.
