At the new Balaton Park circuit in Hungary, Max gained further valuable experience with the Jenzer Motorsport team at the last race of the 2023 season, on a brand new and beautiful race circuit.
Max arrived at the circuit on Thursday afternoon and immediately began getting to know the new track, which he and his team thoroughly explored.
Friday
Friday morning began with a series of five free practice sessions and addressing the team’s strategy in setting up the car with their engineer and mechanics. Once again, the professional approach that Jenzer Motorsport has shown itself to be excellent. Max was setting times quite comparable to the top of the starting field.
Saturday
Saturday was the qualifying session and the first race. In qualifying Max set the seventh fastest time. He moved forward during the race and finished the race in sixth place.
Sunday
On Sunday there were two more races. In the second race Max managed to move into the TOP5. Great achievement.
This meant that he started the third and final race from the second row in fourth place. Due to a bad start, Max dropped to the back of the grid and after a pursuit run he finished the race in seventh place.
Max said after the race that his clutch failed him and the engine died at the start. Of course, nerves had a lot to do with it. Starting at the front like that is a big task for a rookie driver, as he only recently switched to F4 from karting.
