A track where a lot has happened in the time Max has been racing.
The Czech Kart Open is the Czech Republic Championship and the race in Vysoké Mýto is organized directly by the Autoclub of the Czech Republic. After the previous race in Genk, Belgium, Max visited the home track with his mechanics and was looking forward to this race because he knows the track very well compared to the tracks in DKM, Germany.
The only thing that was new for Max was the new machinery he was using for the first time. So he took advantage of the free practice sessions on Thursday.
Practice and atmosphere
On Friday, Max was already familiar enough to be able to work with the mechanic to adjust a good setup to capture the fastest times. He was not far behind the top of the class on Friday night, so he could be satisfied and go to bed…
Saturday practice sessions
On Saturday there were 3 more official practice sessions. That was followed by a timed practice session, which is the basis for the first final session.
Max did well there and set the 8th best time overall, so he started the first final run from the fourth row next to his teammate Dawe. However, he crashed out during the duels and finished 11th.
Conclusion
For the second final run on Sunday, Max again started from the fourth row, only this time from a better position on the left. He finished in an excellent seventh place, except that unfortunately after the race the stewards didn’t like Max’s overtaking of his rival and he was given a V-collision penalty for it.
After an uncompromising explanation with stewards, he was disqualified from the second final race. That’s just motorsport. It was very disappointing for Max as he had the opportunity to start from the third row for the super final.
Thanks to this big disappointment and further experience (as Jirka Jupa says) Max took a great 5th place in the final run from 12th place!
