Czech driver Max Karhan said goodbye to this season of F4 CEZ at the Salzburgring. He took podium finishes in three races and finished third in the final championship standings.

Max Karhan of the Swiss Jenzer Motorsport team entered the final round with a mathematical chance for the title. However, he was 56 points behind teammate Oscar Wurz, the leader of the standings. But there was still hope for the title in the event of Wurz’s problems.

Karhan was competing at the legendary Salzburgring in Austria for the first time and he proved his speed already in free practice sessions. In qualifying, he finished third behind two title contenders, Kirill Kutskov and Oscar Wurz. He was just 0.266 seconds short of pole position.

It was Kutskov and Wurz who fought hard for the win in the first race. Karhan drove close behind them and waited to see how the situation would develop. It was agreed that he would not attack Wurz, but instead support him as a team player in the fight for the title. In the end they finished in the same order and Wurz was one step away from the title.

In the second race Karhan made a great start and immediately started attacking the first Kutskov. But he fought back fiercely and the pair at the front were caught by Wurz, who moved ahead of Karhan to secure the title.

After another third place, Karhan had a clear goal before the final start – to improve on his current position on the Salzburgring. He again attacked the first Kutskov and fought his way to the first position in the last section of the circuit. However, Kutskov took advantage of the aerodynamic effect and soon returned the overtake. Karhan didn’t let up and kept the pressure on his rival in front of him. He crossed the line just 0.237 seconds behind Kutskov.

The Czech driver for Jenzer Motorsport ended his complete debut season in F4 on the podium and took third place in the Drivers’ Standing behind Wurz and Kutskov. During the year he collected a total of four victories at the Slovakia Ring, in Most and Brno.
