Czech driver Max Karhan from the Swiss team Jenzer Motorsport achieved his second victory in the F4 CEZ championship in front of the home crowd in Most. He scored the most points of all the drivers in the starting field over the weekend.
The fourth F4 CEZ round took place at Autodrom Most as part of the Racing Journal SpeedFest weekend. Karhan finished in the Top 3 in all three races and won the trophies for first, second and third place.
Karhan set the second fastest time in qualifying and stood on the front row alongside another local driver, Miroslav Mikeš, at the start of the opening race. Throughout the race, Karhan kept the pressure on him and crossed the finish line second, just 0.555 seconds behind Mikeš.
„I am satisfied, but I would have been happier with the victory. We have the speed, so I can get even more out of the car. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to overtake on this track and I didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks right at the start,“ Karhan said after Saturday’s race.
In the second race, which took place on Sunday morning, he again fought at the top. His biggest competitors were his teammate Oscar Wurz, then Kirill Kutskov and of course Miroslav Mikeš. Karhan fought a very tough battle with Wurz and was classified third in the end.
He saved his wild ride for the very end of the weekend. He started the third race from fourth place, then fought his way to bronze, pressuring Wurz in front of him. Teammates once again fought hard and on lap thirteen of sixteen Karhan pushed his way up to second. A lap later he also passed leader Kutskov and immediately began to escape his pursuers. In three laps he had built up a lead of nearly five seconds and celebrated his second victory in this year’s F4 CEZ season.
„When you know you’re the fastest in a race, it boosts your confidence and trust in the car a lot. That’s why I went hard into the battles and it worked out. There was no reason to hang back. The win at the Slovakia Ring gave me a lot of confidence and with another win in Most it continues,“ said Karhan, who will be behind the wheel of a Formula 4 car in September in Brno at the fifth F4 CEZ event. This season is also a preparation for the FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia in October, where Karhan will represent the Czech Republic in the Formula 4 category.
