Automotodrom Brno hosted the penultimate event of this season of F4 CEZ. In the three races over the weekend he scored the most points of the entire starting field and achieved two first places. Kirill Kutskov won the final sprint.
It was already clear that the spectators could look forward to an attractive spectacle after qualifying. Kirill Kutskov of the Maffi Racing team was the winner, but right behind him, just 0.057 seconds behind, was Max Karhan. Oscar Wurz, the championship leader and Karhan started the opening sprint the best of all and in the rear-view mirror he could see his nearest rivals disappearing in the distance. Kutskov and Wurz had trouble at the start and started only a few seconds late.
Karhan’s teammate from Jenzer Motorsport, was just 0.261 seconds slower. Miroslav Mikeš of JMT Racing finished fourth and the top four in the points standings were together on the grid for Race 1.
To the joy of the spectators, the first two positions were occupied by the home team of Karhan and Mikeš. While Karhan was slowly building his lead, Mikeš was soon attacked by Kutskov. He eventually overcame the Czech racer, but was no longer able to catch Karhan. Karhan won the first sprint ahead of Kutskov and Mikeš. The young Australian Joanne Ciconte finished fourth and Wurz fifth.
Karhan started the second race from pole position ahead of Kutskov and Mikeš, but it was Mikeš who took the lead with a fantastic start in the first corner and enjoyed a clear view in front of him. Karhan, however, did not hesitate to attack the lead and worked his way to the front on the second lap. He stayed there until the end of the race and even after a yellow flag due to an accident between Kirill Kutskov and Miroslav Mikeš.The Czech driver was hit from behind but fortunately was able to continue and finished fifth behind Simon Schranz, Nathanael Berreby, Wurz and the winning Karhan.
Kirill Kutskov made up for it in the third and final race. From seventh place he immediately went to the front and was soon second behind leader Wurz and took the lead on lap four. From then on he managed to keep a comfortable lead and crossed the finish line in first place ahead of Wurz, Mikeš and Karhan.
Wurz, Kutskov, Karhan and Mikeš were regularly on the podium throughout the weekend and the only one who managed to squeeze in between them was Nathanael Berreby from Maffi Racing, who achieved third place in the second race. Berreby was very often battling on track with Simon Schranz of the Renauer Motorsport team. These drivers met very often on the track during the weekend and showed the fans some beautiful, very close wheel-to-wheel battles. Kornelia Olkucka (Maffi Racing) and Michalina Sabaj (AS Motorsport) fought just as fiercely with each other. Great performances by Joanne Ciconte of AS Motorsport. The Australian was competing in F4 CEZ for the first time and finished fourth in the first race.
Oscar Wurz continues to hold a solid 49-point lead in the drivers‘ standings after the weekend in Brno, giving him an excellent starting position for the final round on home soil at the Salzburgring. However, the battle for second place continues to intensify, with Max Karhan just seven points behind second-placed Kirill Kutskov with 201 points.
