Jenzer Motorsport driver Max Karhan took his second win in the F4 CEZ Championship 2024 this year, dominating the third race at the Autodrom Most.
After Slovakia, where Max also won, the next race was the home race in Most at the Racing Journal Speed Fest 2024. Twelve drivers were on the start list, including local drivers from the newly formed F4 CEZ ACADEMY team, where Michelle Jandová and Marek Mičík are also competing.
Three races in total were ahead of the F4 CEZ Championship drivers in Most. The weekend was quite busy and it was necessary to prepare for it. Unfortunately, in Friday’s free practice there was an accident between Max’s colleague and one of the Polish pilots, so the competition thinned out a bit before the race itself. We wish both drivers a speedy recovery and look forward to the next duels on the track. Most also serves as good preparation for the FIA Motorsport Games, where Max and Adam Kout have been nominated this year.
Already in qualifying it was clear that Max knows Most very well and his qualifying time of 1:35.020s put him in second place, just behind Miroslav Mikeš of JMT Racing. The big favourite Oscar Wurz jumped right behind Max with a gap of 0.066s. Kiril Kutskov, another of the favorites drivers, finished fourth. Max Karhan was really looking forward to the race in front of his home crowd and hoped that it would be a bit wet, as he did quite well in the wet.
The first race was scheduled for sixteen circuits of the Most Autodrom, which is a 25min race, so the drivers are going to have a nice race. But at the finish it looked different. The first four drivers to finish were within 1.6s. The race was thrilling and ended with Miroslav Mikeš winning the race, but Max competed well and with a gap of 0.555s took the trophy for second place, a great success and beating the competition of Oscar Wurz and Kirill Kutskov. He was rightly looking forward to the next race where he will measure his racing skills on his home track in Most.
The second race started before noon on Sunday. There were still some rain spots on the track from the morning rain. Early in the race, Max settled into the lead and even looked like he would build a slight lead, but a crash by one of the drivers brought up the Safety car and the field came together in a big pack. The track was also battered by rays of sunshine, which dried out the track with every lap. After the restart it was a wheel-to-wheel battle, but Kutskov and Mikeš got ahead of Max one by one and he fought a tough battle with Philippe Karras. Third place was an excellent position in the drying track conditions and another trophy went to the young racer’s collection.
However, he made up for everything with his last run on Sunday, when he stood on the top step and took home the FIA CEZ Championship Gold Trophy. Kirill Kutskov and Oscar Wurz had to bow to him, both of whom he beat by 5s. It is very pleasing that Max is third in the standings and he is looking forward to the next races in Brno at Masaryk Racing Days, where we will keep you updated on the progress of the races. We invite you to the races in Brno on 7-8 September.Thank you to everyone who contributed to this great result and we look forward to seeing you back at the race track.
