Double gold for Max Karhan from Masaryk Racing Days

The young pilot Max Karhan achieved an extraordinary success on the track Autodrom in Brno, where another race of the F4 CEZ series with Tatuus Abarth 1.4 turbo monoposts took place on the weekend.

Two victories were waiting for Max at the Brno autodrome held as part of Masaryk Racing Days. But it was not for free. The hard work of the entire Jenzer Motorsport team started on Wednesday, when the team arrived in the South Moravian metropolis for the penultimate race weekend of the series for promising F4 CEZ racers. Max’s coach Jiří Jupa was also on the phone, but he did not attend the races this time, but Max still appreciates his good racing advice. When he wasn’t racing, he was watching the other races and looking for where he could possibly get faster.

Friday’s qualifying in warm summer weather already showed that the races in Brno will be very exciting and that there will be a chance for success on the home track. Kirill Kutskov of Maffi Racing won the qualifying, with Max Karhan finishing second just 0.057s behind him, while the son of F1 World Champion Oscar Wurz, who by the way led the FIA-certified F4 CEZ classification, took third place. The start of Australian Joanne Ciconte was an interesting one. In a field of eleven, the silver medal from qualifying was a big success and Max couldn’t wait for the red lights to go out for the first time in Saturday’s race.

All 11 male and female drivers were on the start line for Saturday’s pre-noon race. Max had a great start, but several cars, including Kutskov, were left standing despite the red lights going out at the start – apparently due to the hot asphalt of the Brno track – ruining several drivers‘ plans. Max, however, was doing a great job at the front and didn’t let anything throw him off. Kutskov and Wurz did set up a pursuit mode and at times it looked like they were closing on Max, but the tyres weren’t listening as much. The result was another victory for Max, which he added to the gold trophies from Slovakia Ring and Most.

The second race was on Sunday and started with one of the two Sunday races. The high temperature of the track favoured Max Karhan’s performance and he managed to win his fourth race on Sunday and his second at his home circuit in Brno. Kirill Kutskov did not see the finish line this time and Oscar Wurz had to settle for second place by more than five seconds behind. The bronze was defended by Nathanael Berreby from Switzerland. Austrian Simon Schranz of Renauer Motorsport also had a nice fourth place.

The second race on Sunday ended the Masaryk Racing Days program in the early evening, when the track was already properly rubbered from the other cars. Max drew the 5th spot on the grid for the start of the third race, but jumped up a place thanks to a penalty for Kutskov.

The formula cars have a prescribed number of tyres for the race, and as they were no longer in perfect condition on the hot asphalt in the third run, Max went for safety and finished fourth. However, this means that ahead of the last 3 races of the season, he remains close behind Kutskov in the standings and Oscar Wurz leads the championship.

We greatly appreciate the success in Brno and thank the Jenzer Motorsport team and all our sponsors for their excellent cooperation.

Follow Max Karhan’s performance with us and support him at the Salzburgring on 21-22 September.

Keep the wheels running!
