The last race of the Czech Kart Open was held on the track in Wackersdorf, Germany.
After the previous race in Vysoké Mýto and two days of testing, we arrived at the circuit on Thursday morning.
The free practice sessions on Thursday and Friday were important for setting up the kart on the wet track, as the previous testing was on dry track. It looked like it was going to rain all weekend.
Max did very well compared to the competition. The conditions were again very good for him and he set the fastest times. Only mechanics and the driver were looking up at the sky.
And also this time everybody wished it would rain, because it’s not that common…
Unfortunately, the last free practice on Saturday was the last one on a wet track. And suddenly everything turned around. The timing showed that dry weather is not Max’s strong area, and he set the 11th fastest time in the timed practice. 0.76 seconds behind the first rider.
The mood in the team was not so good, but we know Max and his starts…
After the start of the first final dry run Max made another excellent start and got to the fifth position. And after some nice battles he finished in seventh place.
Sunday morning’s warm up was on the water for a change, where Max’s time was great again.
Max started the second final session from 11th place. As always, he did a great job and after some nice battles Max finished the race in ninth place.
„Even miracles happen“ commented Mrs. Šimáková (head of MS Kart) after Max crossed the finish line. A great final run where Max was very lucky to finish the race in third place overall after starting from ninth place.
A beautiful end to the 2022 season in the Czech Championship. Finishing in third place and fifth overall was a great reward for the whole team. And it should be noted that Max drove the OK Junior class for the first time…
Thanks also to our mechanics and partners for their excellent work and support!
